Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Basic English skills to understand the training and complete tests.

A valid CITB Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) Test passed within the last 2 years is required.

Successful candidates will receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for Traffic Marshaller (A73), certifying their competence to work as a trained marshaller on construction sites.

The Traffic Marshal course, commonly called the Traffic Banksman course, is valid for 3 years. This includes your certificate and ID card. Once your certificate and ID card expires you will need to do the Traffic Banksman training again.

A Vehicle Banksman’s job is to minimize possible risks to personnel and equipment by:

Managing traffic to avoid excess queuing.

Directing movement of vehicles and loads on a worksite using the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standard hand signals and/or verbal codes, particularly for large vehicles and reversing vehicles.

Understanding risks (e.g. blind spots) and how to manage them.

Recommending and laying out safe on-site traffic systems.
If any of the above risks are present, a trained Vehicle Banksman will be required on-site.
